Note: Your mailbox has a 3 megabyte quota. To ensure your email is not blocked or deleted please ensure you have followed these steps:
- Open Eudora.
- Click the Tools menu, choose Options.
- Select the Incoming Mail category.
- Make sure that the Leave mail on server box is unchecked.
- Click OK to save the changes.
Configuration
- Open Eudora. Click the Tools menu and choose Options.
- Click on Getting Started.
- In the POP Account text box, type your email address.
- For example: username@cois.on.ca
- In the Real name text box, type your name.
- In the Return Address text box, type your email address.
- For example: username@cois.on.ca
- Under Category, select Hosts.
- In the SMTP text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- Under Category, scroll down to Advanced Network and select it.
- Uncheck Cache network info.
- Set Network open timeout to 900 seconds.
- Set Network timeout after to 900 seconds.
- Click the OK button.

Eudora Pro
Note: Your mailbox has a 3 megabyte quota. To ensure your email is not blocked or deleted please ensure you have followed these steps:
- Open Eudora.
- Click the Tools menu, choose Options.
- Select the Incoming Mail category.
- Make sure that the Leave mail on server box is unchecked.
- Click OK to save the changes.
Configuration
- Open Eudora. Click the Tools menu and choose Options.
- Click on Getting Started.
- In the Real Name text box, type your name.
- In the Return address text box, type your email address.
- In the Incoming Mail Server text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- In the Login Name text box, type your Username.
- Select Checking Mail.
- In the Mail Server text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- In the Login Name text box, type your Username.
- Select Incoming Mail.
- In the Server Configuration text box, type POP.
- In the Authentication Style text box, type Passwords.
- Select Sending Mail.
- In the Return Address text box, type your full email address.
- For example: username@cois.on.ca
- Leave the Domain to add to unqualified addresses blank.
- In the SMTP Server text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- Click OK.

Netscape Mail 3.x

- Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
- Click on Mail and News.

Configuration
- Open Netscape Navigator.
- From the Options menu, select Mail and News Preferences.
- Select the Servers tab.
- In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- In the Incoming Mail (POP3) Server text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- In the POP3 User Name text box, enter your member ID.
- Select the Identity tab.
- In the Your Name text box, type your name.
- In the Your Email text box, type your email address.
- For example: username@cois.on.ca
- In the Reply-to Address text box, type your email address.
- For example: username@cois.on.ca
- Click OK to exit.

- Click on the Windows Start button.
- Point to Netscape Communicator and select Netscape Messenger.
- From Edit menu select Preferences.
- Click the + next to Mail & Groups and select Identity.
- In the Your Name text box, type your name.
- In the Your Email text box, type your email address.
- For example: username@cois.on.ca
- Under Mail & Groups, select Mail Server.
- In the Mail server username text box, type your Username.
- In the Outgoing mail [SMTP] server text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- In the Incoming Mail Server text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- Select POP3 (messages and folders are kept locally, on the hard disk).
- Click OK to exit.

Microsoft Outlook 97

- Go to the Tools menu and select Services.
- Double-click on Internet email.
- Click on the Advanced tab and look under Delivery.
- Make sure that the Leave a copy of messages on server box is unchecked.
- Click OK to save.
Configuration
- From the Outlook Tools menu, choose Services.
- Select the Services tab.
- If Internet Mail appears in the list of services:
- Highlight Internet Mail.
- Click the Properties button.
- Go to step 7.
- If Internet Mail does not appear, continue with step 4.
- Click the Add button.
- In the Add Service to Profile window, highlight Internet Mail.
- Click OK
- In the Internet Mail window, select the General tab.
- Enter your full name and e-mail address under Personal Information.
- For Internet Mail server, enter mail.cois.on.ca
- For Account name, enter your Username.
- Note: your Username must all be lower case.
- For Password, enter your email password
- Note: your password is case sensitive.
- Select the Connection tab.
- Under Connecting to Internet Mail, select Connect using the network.
- For Dial using the following connection, select your COIS connection.
- Click OK.
- If you have added the Internet Mail service, you will be prompted to restart Outlook. Click OK.
- Click OK again to dismiss the Services window.
- Quit and restart Outlook if necessary
Sending Mail
- From the Compose menu, choose New Mail Message.
- Enter primary recipients in the To: field, carbon copy recipients in the CC: field (optional), and type a title for the message in the Subject field.
- To attach files to the message: from the Insert menu, select File.
- When your message is finished, click the Send button.
Checking Mail
- From the Tools menu, choose Check for New Mail.
- New messages will be downloaded and placed in the Inbox.
- To read a message in the Inbox, double-click on it.
- To reply to the message, click the Reply button. To forward it, click the Forward button.
- To file the message in a folder, from the File menu, choose Move to Folder or Copy to Folder.
- To delete the message: from the File menu, choose Delete.

- In the Incoming Mail (POP3) box, type mail.cois.on.ca.
- For Login Information, select Logon using: Account Name, Password.
- In the Account Name box, type your Username.
- Note: your Username must all be lower case.
- In the Password box, type your email password.
- Note: your password is case sensitive.
- Select the Connection tab.
- For Connection, select your COIS connection.
- Click the OK button.
- If you have added the Internet Mail service, you will be prompted to restart Outlook.
- Click the OK button.
- Click OK again to dismiss the Services window.
- Quit and restart Outlook if necessary.
Sending Mail
- To write a new email message, from the Compose menu, select New Mail Message.

- Select Log on using: POP account name, Password.
- In the POP account name box, type your Username.
- Note: your Username must all be lower case.
- In the Password box, type your password.
- Note: your password is case sensitive.
- Click the Next button.
- In the Internet mail account name box, type COIS Mail.
- Note: this can be anything you want.
- Click the Next button.
- Select your COIS connection.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Finish button to save settings.

Microsoft Outlook Express 4

- Go to the Tools menu and select Accounts.
- Click on the Mail tab.
- Select mail.cois.on.ca then click Properties and select Advanced.

- Click OK to save.
Configuring a New Account
- From the Tools menu, choose Account.
- Select the Mail tab.
- Click the Add button.
- From the Add menu, select Mail.
- In the Display name text box, type your name.
- Click the Next button to continue.
- In the email address text box, type your email address.
- In the Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- Click the Next button to continue.
- In the Password text box, type your password.
- Click the Next button.
- Select Connect using my phone line.
- Click the Next button to continue.
- Click the Finish button.
- Click the Close button.
Reconfiguring an Existing Account
- From the Tools menu, select Account.
- Select the Mail tab.
- Select the account to be reconfigured.
- Click on the Properties button.
- In the Mail account text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- In the Name text box, type your name.
- In the email Address text box, type your email address.
- For example: username@cois.on.ca
- Check Include this account when doing a full send and receive.
- Select the Servers tab.
- In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- In the Incoming Mail (POP3) text box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- Select Log on using.
- In the Account name text box, type your Username.
- Note: your Username must all be lower case.
- In the Password text box, type your password.
- Note: your password is case sensitive.
- Uncheck My server requires authentication.
- Select the Connection tab.
- Select Connect using my phone line.
- Click on the Close button to exit.

Microsoft Outlook Express 5.x/6.x

- Go to the Tools menu and select Accounts.

- In the Outgoing mail server box, type mail.cois.on.ca
- Click Next.
- In the Account name box, type your Username.
- Note: your Username must all be lower case.
- In the Password box, type your password.
- Note: your password is case sensitive.
- If you want to have your password saved, so that you don't have to type it when checking email, place a check in the Remember password box.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish to save your settings.
